with Mehgan Heaney-Grier

I had the good fortune of growing up in the Florida Keys. Spending the majority of my young life exploring the ocean I got a front row seat watching the changes take place underwater from our human impact. From this I learned just how connected we are to the ocean.

It was my move to Colorado many years later though, that helped me understand how the ocean touches each of our lives, no matter where we live.

If you’ve ever been to the Keys, it’s easy to understand how the ocean plays a natural and very important role as the backdrop of life there. But, what may not be super evident to anyone who wasn’t raised with one foot on land and one in the sea – is that the OCEAN is a vital part of ALL life, everywhere.

That’s why I’m here…working for the ocean, helping to build awareness and what I like to call “CONSERVATION EMPOWERMENT”, through an understanding of how and what you can do to make a positive impact on the world around you, right now.

The ocean is absolutely CRITICAL for all life on this planet. No matter where you live the ocean is part of YOUR life.

Hey, I’m Mehgan.

Marine Educator – Ocean Explorer – (Imperfect) Conservationist

As a lifelong ocean explorer I have more than 25 years experience working both above and below the waterline. I am a freediver, professional speaker, marine educator, expedition leader, stunt diver, producer, and television personality. Back in 2000, I was honored to be among the original inductees to the Women Divers Hall of Fame, and in 2020 became a Fellow in The Explorers Club. Among my most important roles, I am a mom, mentor and long-time imperfect conservationist.
